VidBoards End-User License Agreement (EULA) · Version 1.0 · June 5, 2026

What this means in plain terms: You can use VidBoards freely for any personal or commercial purpose. You cannot sell or redistribute the app itself, but you own everything you create with it. The third-party open-source components inside (Electron, etc.) have their own permissive licenses listed below.

1. Definitions

  • "Software" refers to the VidBoards desktop application, including all versions, updates, and associated documentation.
  • "Licensor" refers to the VidBoards project and its authors.
  • "Licensee" or "You" refers to the individual or entity installing or using the Software.
  • "Output" refers to any files or content you create, modify, or export using the Software (e.g., PNG exports, .vdb project files).

2. Grant of License

The Licensor grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Install and use the Software on devices you own or control
  • Use the Software for personal, educational, research, and commercial purposes
  • Create, store, and distribute Output generated using the Software
  • Make backup copies of the Software for personal archival purposes

3. Restrictions

This license does not permit you to:

  • Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the Software or any rights therein to a third party
  • Redistribute the Software in compiled or source form without prior written consent from the Licensor
  • Include the Software in a commercial software bundle, product, or service without prior written consent
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Software, except where such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law (e.g., for interoperability purposes)
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices within the Software
  • Use the VidBoards name, logo, or branding in a way that implies official affiliation or endorsement without permission

4. Ownership of Output

You retain full ownership of all Output you create using the Software. The Licensor claims no rights whatsoever over your project files, exported images, or any other content you produce using VidBoards. Output is yours.

5. Free of Charge

The Software is provided free of charge. The Licensor reserves the right to offer premium features, a paid edition, or commercial licensing in the future. Any such offerings will be clearly separate from the free version and will not remove features already available in the free version at the time of such a change.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE LICENSOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT ITS OPERATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF THE LICENSOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR SYSTEM DAMAGE.

8. Third-Party Open-Source Components

9. Termination

This license is effective until terminated. It terminates automatically and immediately if you breach any of its terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and destroy all copies in your possession. Clauses 6, 7, and 10 survive termination.

10. Governing Law & Disputes

This License is governed by generally applicable principles of commercial software licensing. Any dispute arising under or in connection with this License shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
